About the Day On 11 October 2011, the United Nations General Assembly declared October 11 as the International Day of the Girl Child to highlight and address the needs and challenges girls face, while promoting girls’ empowerment and the fulfillment of their human rights. The 2025 Global Theme is: “The girl I am, the change I lead: Girls on the frontlines of crisis.” At YouthUp Global, we are joining the global call by hosting this Commemoration Webinar, bringing together changemakers, advocates, and youth leaders to spotlight the resilience, leadership, and innovation of the African girl child.
