OUR STORY
Utidia was established in 2022 as a strategic pillar of the Youthup Global Ecosystem following a growing realization that Africa’s workforce challenge cannot be solved through education or skills development alone.
Across the continent, millions of people graduate from schools, universities, vocational institutions, and training programmes every year. Yet many continue to struggle to transition into meaningful work — not because they lack talent or ambition, but because they lack practical experience, workplace competencies, credible Proof of Work, and structured pathways that connect learning to opportunity.
At the same time, employers continue to face growing challenges in recruiting workforce-ready people equipped to contribute effectively from day one. This disconnect revealed a much deeper challenge.

Addressing that challenge requires more than isolated training programmes or recruitment services. It requires integrated systems that intentionally develop people, strengthen workforce readiness, and connect capability with opportunity. That realization led to the establishment of Utidia.

A MESSAGE FROM OUR FOUNDER
“When I founded Youthup Global, I was driven by a simple conviction: Africa’s greatest asset is its people. Yet as I travelled, worked with young people, employers, educational institutions, and development partners across the continent, one reality became increasingly clear. Africa’s challenge was not simply unemployment. Nor was it merely a shortage of skills.
The deeper challenge was the absence of practical workforce development systems capable of preparing people for meaningful economic participation. Too many people complete their education without practical experience. Too many capable professionals remain underemployed because they cannot demonstrate their capabilities. Too many organizations struggle to find workforce-ready people despite the abundance of talent across our continent.
That realization inspired the creation of Utidia. Utidia is more than a company. It is a strategic institution within the Youthup Global Ecosystem, established to help strengthen workforce development across Africa through practical learning, work-based learning, Digital Apprenticeships, workforce solutions, and strategic partnerships.
I believe that achieving the aspirations of Agenda 2063 and the Sustainable Development Goals requires institutions that intentionally develop people for meaningful work and productive economic participation. That is the contribution we seek to make through Utidia.
