Responsibilities of Surgical Assistant

• Prepare the operatory and equipment 

• Greet and escort patients to and from the treatment room 

• Prepare the patient for surgery or examination

• Maintain awareness of the comfort and safety needs of patients

• Record treatment information in the patient's chart

• Assist the doctor by passing instruments, aspirating intra‑oral fluids, taking photographs

• Take radiographs as directed by the doctor

• Provide post-operative care to patients as directed by doctor 

• Communicate with other essential team members to coordinate patient flow and comfort

• Maintain a clean and organized work area

Requirements of Surgical Assistant

• CPR & first aid certificate

• Valid X-ray certificate

• Sustained positivity and energy throughout the day

• Communicates clearly with patients and all team members

• Attention to detail

• Professionalism

Compensation and Benefits  

• Wage: $21-32 per hour DOE

• 90-day review and wage assessment, with potential of increase

• 36 hour work week 

• 4 days a week at 9 hours 

• Health insurance benefit at 30 days, all other benefits eligible after 90-day probation

• 40 hours vacation (accrued annually) doubles at year 3 of service

• 3 days of sick pay per year

• 5 paid holidays

• 401K Employer contribution
