Job Title: Radiation Therapist – Contract

A healthcare facility in New York, NY is seeking an experienced Radiation Therapist for a contract assignment. This role is responsible for delivering prescribed radiation treatments accurately and safely while ensuring patient comfort, compliance with regulatory standards, and proper documentation.
Deliver therapeutic radiation treatments per Radiation Oncologist prescription
Verify treatment prescriptions to ensure accuracy and eliminate dosage or technical errors
Accurately set up patients for treatment using immobilization devices, field parameters, and beam-shaping tools
Explain procedures to patients and provide reassurance throughout treatment
Maintain continuous visual and audible communication with patients during treatment
Perform and document daily quality assurance (QA) and safety checks on treatment equipment
Take, interpret, and verify port images; ensure review and approval by Radiation Oncologist
Record all treatments in patient charts and record/verify systems
Perform chart checks and report discrepancies
Identify and report equipment malfunctions to senior staff and medical physics
Maintain treatment rooms in a clean, organized, and stocked condition
Assist with chart rounds, scheduling, and clinical discussions
Participate in in-service training, meetings, and ad hoc educational sessions
Create immobilization devices and assist with shielding block adjustments
Monitor and report any adverse patient reactions related to radiation therapy
Assist in training and evaluating student radiation therapists
Maintain professional conduct at all times
Perform additional duties as assigned
Minimum 2 years of recent clinical experience in therapeutic radiation therapy
Hands-on experience with Varian TrueBeam technology
Experience using Mosaiq EMR
Strong understanding of radiation safety, dose calculations, and treatment verification
Ability to detect equipment malfunctions and escalate appropriately
Graduate of an AMA-approved Radiation Therapy program (required)
