This is a non-telework position located in Pearblossom, California.
Under the supervision of a registered Senior Engineer, WR or direction from his assignee, the incumbent will perform the more complex and difficult non-professional engineering work in assignments for performing project surveillance and water quality within the Southern Field Division. Incumbent must use good judgment and carry out all work assignments in a safe and efficient manner; may perform lead person functions when required. Incumbent may perform administrative tasks in SAP such as time reports, program reports, requisitioning, work order notifications and other SAP functions. This position provides support to the Planner/Scheduler function.
This position requires that the incumbent work cooperatively with others, adjust priorities based on operational needs, maintain regular, consistent, predictable attendance, and exercise good judgment. The specific essential duties are, but not limited to:
Incumbent performs in the maintenance and installation of computerized project surveillance instrumentation. As part of the project surveillance unit, incumbent monitors instrumentation throughout the field division as necessary, but primarily on the East Branch including Silverwood and Perris Dams, canal locations, Pearblossom, Mojave Pumping Plant, Devil Canyon Powerplants, and East Branch Extension. Using surveying equipment, incumbent assists in determining vertical and horizontal elevations and distances in the field for settlement, deflection, and movement; performs the initial evaluation of this data for unusual or abnormal behavior and assists in analysis to determine long term structural behavior of these facilities; enters surveillance data into computer for reference by engineers, initiates job requests for maintenance of structures and embankments; performs leak and other comparative studies as necessary; monitors, tests, maintains, reads, programs, and troubleshoots automated surveillance equipment.
