Posting Context Statement:

University House is the official residence of the University’s Presidential Family. The House also serves as a unique entertainment venue for small groups.
The University House was completed in March 2019, replacing the circa-1960s house that previously sat in its place. The House has 6,000 square feet of living space, a three-bay garage, and beautiful outside space. The House is both formal and professional. The House serves as a beautiful transition from respite to entertaining, arboretum to educational space, and university to community. The House is the university’s way of welcoming all Vandals home.
Discretion and confidentiality are extremely important and a must for the privacy of the presidential family.

Position Overview:

This position’s primary responsibility will be to ensure the cleanliness and orderliness of the house and university belongings within the house.

Duties will include:

• Vacuum, sweep and mop floors
• Dust and polish surfaces
• Organize and declutter spaces
• Make beds
• House related laundry
• Cleaning dishes
• Other duties assigned

Required Experience:

• Three years’ experience as a Housekeeper or similar role in a residential or hotel setting
• Demonstrated attention to detail and organizational skills
• Multitasking with the ability to prioritize
• Maintain confidentiality

Required Education:

• None

Required Other:

• Ability to work a nonstandard schedule, including weekends, nights and holidays
• Possess a valid driver’s license and be able to meet policy requirements for driving university-owned vehicles

Additional Preferred:

• Knowledge of cleaning and sanitation procedures
• Ability to use cleaning equipment and chemicals safely
• Experience with SDS (safety data sheets)
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Time management skills to complete tasks efficiently
• Excellent communication skills to interact with occupants, guests, and team members
• Ability to work with minimal supervision
• Skilled in laundry operations

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:

• Must be able to:
  • Climb ladders, bend and stoop
  • Lift, carry or otherwise move items weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Stand and walk continuously throughout the workday
  • Work in inclement weather conditions
