Role Description:

The individual works with the Design and Sales staff to manage space planning and design efforts for Franklin. Responsibilities include:
  1. Assists design or sales staff with gathering information to discover the needs and priorities of prospective clients and assessing current space and function.  Assists in preparing proposals and support materials.
  2. Assists design/sales staff in gathering information regarding functional requirements and building characteristics to develop space plans, design furniture layout, and recommend products and surface materials such as fabrics, wall finishes, window treatments, floor covering, and lighting solutions which meet the clients’ functional, aesthetic, and budgetary requirements.
  3. Utilizing manual and/or computer skills, drafts perimeter plan, elevations, perspectives and installation drawings and accurate specifications for use in client presentations, proposals, and order processing that meet the department standards.
  4. Under the direction of senior design staff, provides clear communication to client contacts, contractors, sales, project management and installation staff to facilitate a smooth, timely installation and project closeout.
  5. Participate in design team activities in support of a market focused sales effort, with emphasis on skill development and production of deliverables that meet the department’s standard.
  6. Professionally represents the Company with client and third-party contacts and maintains a high level of responsiveness and follow-up.
  7. Develops knowledge of products, client base, technology, design techniques and architectural compliance issues which impact on furniture selection and placement.
Job Specifications:

Education and Training: B.A./B.S. in Interior Design or Architecture.

Work Related Experience: Entry level with practical experience through an internship or prior commercial work experience preferred.
 
Specialized Knowledge and Skills:
  • Knowledge of design techniques and associated technology tools.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and presentation skills to develop productive relationships, foster teamwork and make effective presentations.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Planning and organization skills.
  • Basic knowledge of current business and communications software applications (spreadsheets, databases, word processing, e-mail, etc.)
  • Practical knowledge of computer hardware and peripherals.

Significant Physical Demands:
  • Sight for reading and observing work results
  • Good color vision
