Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh is hiring a casual Audiology Assistant for newborn screening at Magee Women’s Hospital. 

Under the direction of an Audiologist and in accordance with established policies and procedures, the Audiologist Assistant provides support to department clinicians. The Audiologist Assistant uses a variety of audiometric technical equipment and works with patients and families while assisting with testing and/or newborn infant hearing screening. 

Responsibilities:

• Assist in patient audiometric testing and in patient education
• Screen newborns to access level of hearing acuity using technical audiometric equipment.

• Recognize need to postpone screening and request medical assistance for newborn as necessary.

• Demonstrate cost effective use of human and material resources and report supply and material shortages to manager/director.
• Relay screening results to parents.
• Retrieve test results and record data according to department standards.
• Perform functions that require using audiometric technical equipment.
• Ensure patient safety through contacting a physician, either through the ENT services or ER, of any occurrence or incident relating to patient care.
